Disabled war veteran threatened with homelessness after benefits cut

A disabled war veteran who is fighting against cancer has been left in fear of becoming homelessness, after cruel officials from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) slashed his benefits.

George Brodie, 51, served in the first Gulf War and says he has been failed by the so-called ‘Military Covenant’, which supposedly guarantees protections for ex armed-forces personnel.

Mr Brodie had been in receipt of disability benefits since 1994, before the DWP decided he was “fit for work”.

His six years service left him with post-traumatic stress disorder and other health problems. To add to his misery, Mr Brodie has now been diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma – an uncommon cancer that develops in the lymphatic system.

He has now been threatened with homelessness after his housing benefit was reduced.

Speaking to the Daily Record, Mr Brodie said: “For a while after I came out of the Army, I was…

Vote for a political party or an individual

I have just come across a draft of a blog I was proposing to issue some years ago and this was prompted by the voting for Police Commissioners, but I do feel that the points raised about voting for a Party as opposed to an Individual are still valid, especially in the case of Brexit.

Avon and Somerset Chief Constable resigns

Like it or not we now have elected Police Commissioners, no one should be complaining re the percentage of the vote. All the Commissioners were elected fairly in accordance with the Law of the country. If you did not exercise your right to vote, or spoiled your ballot paper, then that was your choice, if you want a say, use your vote properly.

I agree, Commissioners should be non-political and I did not agree with party details being shown on the ballot paper, as we were supposedly…

Join One Green Planet’s #CrushPlastic Movement!

Plastic can be found in virtually every shape and form. It is a material that makes our lives incredibly convenient, but most people rarely think about the impact plastic has on the world around us.

Unlike other materials, plastic never really goes away. We love plastic because it is durable, waterproof, and versatile, but the downside of these qualities is that it lasts forever.

Plastic does not biodegrade and it takes hundreds of years for it to break down through a process of photodegradation. Basically, plastic can only disintegrate if it is exposed to UV rays which break its structural bonds apart – and even when this happens, it never truly goes away, it just becomes tons of microscopic pieces of plastic.
Marine Animal Extinction is the Real Cost of Convenience

Globally, we produce 300 million tons of plastic every year, 78 percent of which is NOT reclaimed or…

Petition: Protect Dolphins from Oil Spills

Opening the floodgates to dirty and dangerous offshore drilling is a catastrophe waiting to happen, made all the worse by President Trump’s proposal to gut a key safety rule.

The BP oil spill was the most devastating oil spill in our nation’s history and the Well Control Rule was one of the only safety regulations implemented in the aftermath.

We cannot allow the Trump Administration to eliminate this key safety rule right when they are pushing to radically expand offshore drilling in nearly all federal waters. We need more safety, not less.

Tell the Trump Administration and the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement: Do not dismantle the Well Control Rule and risk another oil spilling catastrophe.

We need 30,000 people to speak up before the Aug. 6 deadline to stop offshore drilling – make yourself heard.

Petition: Nike, Just Do It! Commit to Using 100% Recycled Plastic

by: Care2 Team
target: Nike

Polyester plastic is used in about 50% of Adidas products. And if you consider the number of shoes and clothes the company makes a year that’s a lot of plastic.

But over the past few years, Adidas has stepped up to help our environment. In 2016 they stopped using plastic bags in all their stores. They have experimented with using biodegradable fabric that would disintegrate quickly after use. And recently the sports apparel giant partnered with an environmental group to make special edition shoes wholly made of recycled water bottles.

But now they are going a step further. The company has started to phase out using new plastic in their entire production line by the end of 2018. By 2024, the company hopes to use nothing but 100% recycled polyester in all their products.

Their decision to make the change couldn’t have come sooner. Plastics…

NFL Tells Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones to Shut Up About the Anthem – Liberals Continue Quest to Destroy the Game

PUMABydesign001's Blog

nfl goes full fledge social justice 248x347This is the same lot of dirt bags who during the 60’s and 70’s pushed “burn baby burn” propaganda, the result of which Blacks and Latinos burning their already blighted communities to the ground.

It took more than three decades to rebuild those communities and erase the damage, aesthetically and economically. Due to the ignorance of many, the psychological damage remains until this day.

Enter 2018 and the same dirt bags have urged clueless NFL players who know nothing of the past to “burn baby burn” their own houses down. The useful idiots are only too willing to comply.

The result, of course, will be history repeating itself leaving these useful idiots back at square one. As in the past, they will fall, fall hard having only themselves to blame.

Trade war tactics, Part 5: Forming alliance to cripple opponent’s economy.

1. Forming alliance from suitably selected allies.

Some country may have been drunk on its economic growth, then aimed to become a master of the World. It consequently behaves in an aggressive and provocative way towards its neighbors and competitors like demanding laws and order but with only laws drafted by only itself. The suffering neighbors and competitors may decide to form an…
