The data was made public by Russian Emergencies Minister Vladimir Puchkov. The official also said the wildfires were caused by weather anomalies, unauthorized agricultural burning and burning of trash in private households. Wildfires devastated nearly 40 settlements with over 7,500 inhabitants.
Large-scale reconstruction is underway in the area with local authorities promising to provide new homes for the homeless by September.
