TOKYO: ‘ Court Rejects Bid to Start Nuclear Two Reactors Over Lax Safety Standards ‘

#AceWorldNews – JAPAN:April.14: A court has rejected a bid to restart two nuclear reactors in Fukui prefecture in western Japan, AP said.

Regulators had earlier issued a safety approval for the facility ahead of their planned restart later this year. However, the Fukui District Court ordered the operator, Kansai Electric Power Co., not to restart the No. 3 and No. 4 reactors at the Takahama plant, which is home to about a dozen reactors.

The court said the Nuclear Regulation Authority’s safety standards were too lax even with stricter requirements imposed following the 2011 Fukushima disaster.
